Bev graduated from the University of Colorado with a BS degree in nursing. She worked as a psych nurse at Fort Logan Mental Health Center in Colorado for 3 years then 2 years in Memphis, Tennessee teaching psych nursing. After moving to Nevada City she was a stay at home mom joining the Nevada County Band playing flute and later singing in a local choir where she met Paul Perry and Terry Brown in 1979.
Wanting to do something more professional, Paul asked Bev to hold a meeting in her home to discuss forming a new musical organization; thus Music in the Mountains was born.
Bev served as the first president of the MIM board for 2 years and remained on the board for an additional 12 years serving in numerous positions. In 2016 she returned to serve 3 more years on the board.
In addition to singing with the MIM Choir for 44 years, Bev was a Girl Scout leader and Neighborhood Chairman, had a videography business for 10 years, was the front office person in her husband, Al Erickson, MD’s Internal Medicine business, joined her sister in an international travel business, and became a member of DAR (Daughter of American Revolution) after much research.
