“Music has been a vital, life-giving part of my journey. At a very young age I remember listening to my Dad play piano and singing with my Mom – it was just there, a part of our family from the beginning. Piano lessons and choral music at school helped me to begin to understand the power and mystery of one of the most beautiful art forms on our dear planet. Whether performing or listening, music has always been and will continue to be, one of the joys of my life. Its breadth of expression, ability to evoke emotion, touch our spirit, lift us up and bring us together, are just a few reasons I support the mission and vision of Music in the Mountains.” Nancy started piano at age six and taught as a teenager into her 30’s. She was on the MIM Board 1984-87 before moving to the Bay Area where she sang as a volunteer in the San Francisco Symphony Chorus for 22 years. In 2019, when she and her husband moved back to Nevada County, she rejoined the MIM Chorus. She was a Senior Communications Consultant with Kaiser Permanente Health Plan working in Public Affairs, Marketing, and HR Communications. She and John (Jeffery) enjoy their four children, sons and daughters-in-law, and three grandsons. Along with traveling, reading, and gardening, fixer-upper projects are always on the to-do list. Nancy wants to be an advocate for helping people to experience and participate in music that unites us as a community.
