Music has been Nancy’s main focus and identity for her entire life. She first heard of MIM in 1997 when her son, Scott Macomber, was asked by Paul Perry to play principal trumpet in the SummerFest Orchestra. She traveled from Chicago to attend several MIM concerts and collaborated with Scott in a recital for MIM’s 1999 SpringFest, never dreaming that she would be a Californian in another decade! Born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, Nancy earned music degrees in piano from Denison University and Northwestern University. For over forty years, she had a busy music career in the Chicago area, teaching and performing. She especially enjoyed being a musical director for Broadway shows. When Nancy moved to the area in 2011, Sierra Stages coaxed her out of retirement to play keyboard for a dozen shows. Locally, she also accompanied for the MIM Chorus and Sierra Master Chorale, and she continues to play for/with many individual musicians. She and her husband, Richard (her friend since second grade), share their home in Lake Wildwood with Lily, her seventh dachshund!
